Mandrel

This mandrel is a precision-engineered component designed for narrow strip hot rolling operations. It functions as a hydraulically actuated expansion shaft, enabling secure coil gripping during rolling and efficient release upon completion. The mandrel moves axially within a hollow shaft under the control of a hydraulic cylinder. Its inclined surface pushes radial plungers outward, causing the expansion segments to extend and grip the coil. When the rolling process is finished, the mandrel retracts, the plungers move inward, and the segments contract to allow coil unloading.

In addition to manufacturing new mandrel units, Brant Hydraulics also provides professional repair and refurbishment services. Our team offers structural inspection, hydraulic system recalibration, segment replacement, and surface treatment restoration. These services help extend equipment lifespan, reduce downtime, and maintain optimal performance for demanding production environments.

Key Features
•     Hydraulic Expansion System:
Converts axial movement into radial force via inclined surfaces and plungers, enabling precise coil engagement.
•     Segmented Expansion Design:
Multiple expansion segments ensure uniform pressure distribution and secure coil holding.
•     Gear-Driven Axial Motion:
Provides controlled and synchronized movement for expansion and contraction cycles.
•     Durable Construction:
Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with heat-resistant surface treatments for long-term performance.
•     Compact Integration:
Designed for seamless installation into narrow strip rolling lines, optimizing space and operational efficiency

Application Scope
This mandrel is widely used in steel and metal rolling mills, particularly for narrow strip hot rolling lines. It is suitable for aluminum processing facilities, copper strip production, and any industrial setting requiring precise coil engagement and release during thermal or mechanical processing.
